Magic Oyster Bar & Seafood Grill Opens In Jensen Beach, Bringing The Island A New Raw Bar In A 'Casual, Beachy' Setting

A new restaurant and raw bar has made its way to Jensen Beach.

The Magic Oyster Bar & Seafood Grill, which offers plenty of fish dishes alongside a raw bar, opened up at 10999 S. Ocean Drive on Aug. 22. The remodeled space turned two restaurants—the former Caps Island Grille and Stiles Deli & Bakery—into one “casual, beachy” spot.

Located across the street from the ocean, Magic Oyster Bar’s rotating oyster options have included Virginia oysters, Connecticut Blue Points and others from Canada, Florida and Chesapeake Bay.

“We’ll offer whatever’s the freshest and the best,” said Prawnbroker Restaurant Group partner Ed Schilling, who added his raw bar concept was new to Jensen Beach.

Magic Oyster Bar is owned by Prawnbroker Restaurant Group, which has been in business for 40 years—and in Stuart since 1985.

Locally, the company owns The Prawnbroker Grill, The Black Marlin and Shrimpers Grill & Raw Bar—all in Stuart—and Palm City Grill in, well, Palm City. The group also owns eateries on Florida’s west coast.

Schilling said he and his partners, who are all local to the area, felt there was a need for a restaurant like this on the island.

“People said they needed another place to go to, so we decided to open this,” he said.

The menu includes fried platters, such as coconut shrimp with raspberry horseradish sauce; sandwiches, like the Prawnbroker Group’s famous grouper reuben; and larger entrees, from an 8-ounce filet mignon to the house specialty, the horseradish crusted grouper.

Magic Oyster Bar’s theme is amplified by nautical decor, colorful artwork, and seating (chair, booths and bar stools) in Caribbean-style teals and greens.

Right now, the restaurant serves dinner nightly beginning at 4 p.m., and the bar opens an hour prior. However, Magic Oyster Bar plans to open for lunch down the road, possibly in November, Schilling said.

Schilling added the restaurant also plans to open up its outdoor seating within the next week.
